A bouquet of sage, thyme, cinnamon basil, genovese basil, tarragon, rosemary from our 2011 CSA.
Located in New Paltz, NY, we are a 6-acre vegetable, herb, and flower farm founded in 2011. We believe in treating our land as a whole, interconnected entity—we work for our land so it is able to work for us. We use non-chemical fertilizers, cover cropping, companion planting, and crop rotation to leave the land better than we found it. (When we found it, our land was a grassy, weedy, rock-covered expanse with a history of being used as pasture. Underneath we found beautiful, silty soil still rich in nutrients.)

We are primarily a CSA Farm: Community Supported Agriculture is a common business model allowing a small farm to grow. Members  join in the winter/early spring before the growing season starts. Your payment helps our farm buy seeds and other supplies for the year. In exchange for your investment in our farm, we grow you what you've ordered, and you pick it up at the same time and location every week.

How do I join, what can I order, how much does it cost, and when/where do I pick it up?

What do you grow?

Why Support Community Supported Agriculture?
Your produce is picked less than 24 hours before you receive it, and it travels a maximum of two hours (New Paltz to New York City). Contrast our travel-time (and our prices) with the gas-fueled prices at your local supermarket, where food typically travels from California or South America—Californian produce is fine, in California!

Small farms require a huge up-front investment to buy or lease land, buy tools and equipment, and seeds. CSA is a very useful way to get a small farm growing and turn farming from a full-time "hobby" into a full-time, paying job.

Another model we support, and which supports us, is Plovgh.
